YIL001 Have You Ever Said “I must take internet lessons”?
Nearly a year ago my mate Silvana said “I should learn about computers”. When I asked her what she wanted to do with computers she was a bit unclear, but said she wanted to do desktop publishing. My point is she thought that people mainly used computers for desktop publishing these days.
She was about ten years out! Since then I have talked to lots of computer newbies and they aren’t really sure what computers are used for, just that lots of people are using them, so they want to. So here I am talking about what computers are used for. Put it another way, what you would learn if you took internet lessons.
You need to learn surprisingly little. If you master 3 things, you will be able to learn any other things easily. You need to learn to read and send email, search the internet, and go to any internet address.
Read and send email
YourInternetLessons.com only supports internet software we know and love. For email this is Gmail on Firefox browser. Go to our Gmail and Browsing Video for a detailed guide.
Search the internet
Your Firefox browser has a search field at the right top. Decide on your keyword phrase, enter it and browse the answers.
Go to any internet address
Your Firefox browser has an address field at the right center. Enter the internet address, for example gmail.com, press enter and wait for the page to come up.
That’s it
You have taken internet lessons, you have “learned about computers”. Now the world is your oyster.
